3/3/07 - SMCC finishes 3rd at the 2007 State Tournament ending a string of five straight Division III State Championships. Troy Christian edged Marion Pleasant for this year's State Crown. Patrick Harrington (119) won his 2nd individual State Championship. Other placers for the Panthers were Troy Opfer (112) 2nd, and Dusty Hermes (140) 3rd.

12/22/07 - SMCC went 6-4 and finished 9th at the 20-Team BG Duals. Troy Opfer and Mark Costello were 10-0 for the tournament. Christian Ortlolani and Ryan Wasylik were 8-2; Kyle Bellamy finished 6-1; David Harrington, Angelo Calderon, and Tim Davlin were 7-3.

12/29/07 - SMCC finished 32nd at the Brecksville Holiday Tournament. The only placers for the Panthers were Troy Opfer (119) 2nd and Christian Ortolani (160) 7th.

1/8/08 - SMCC began the New Year by winning a tri-meet vs. Mohawk (54-16) and Western Reserve (57-21). Panthers going 2-0 for the evening were: David Harrington (103), Jim Pavia (112), Angelo Calderon (119), Troy Opfer (125/130), Mark Costello (135), Garrett Kowalski (125/130), Christian Ortolani (160), Brandon Bostater (215), and Kyle Bellamy (285).

1/12/08 - SMCC went 2-3 at the Green High School Duals Tournament. David Harrington (103), Troy Opfer (125), and Christian Ortolani (160) were all 5-0 for the day. Mark Costello (135) was 4-1. Kyle Bellamy (285) was 3-1.

1/19/09 - SMCC finished 4th at the SBC Duals. Troy Opfer (125/130) and Mark Costello (130/135) were both 7-0 for the two day tournament. Christian Ortolani (160) and Max Dahs (171/189) went 6-1. Kyle Bellamy (285) was 5-2.

Seniors Christian Ortolani recorded his 150th victory during the duals while Mark Costello recorded his 100th victory.

1/23/08 - SMCC split a tri-meet with Genoa and Toledo Central Catholic. The Panthers opened with a 57-19 win over Genoa then lost a close match to Toledo CC 38-33. David Harrington (103), Troy Opfer (125/130), Mark Costello (135), Tim Davlin (145), and Christian Ortolani (160) all went 2-0 for the evening.

1/26/08 - Troy Christian won the 2008 D3 Duals for the 2nd straight year with a perfect 10-0 record. SMCC went 9-1 losing only to Troy Christian. Troy Opfer (125/130) led the Panthers with a 10-0 record for the 2-day Tournament. David Harrington (103) and Christian Ortolani (160) finished at 9-1. Jim Pavia (112), Tim Davlin (140/145), and Max Dahs (171) were 8-2. Kyle Bellamy (285) was 7-2.

Troy Opfer (SMCC) was named MVW for the lower weights and Mason True (Arcadia) was MVW for the upper weights.

During the tournament, senior Troy Opfer notched his 200th career win joining brothers Jared Opfer (1996-1999) 211 wins; Drew Opfer (1998-2001) 217 wins; and Corey Opfer (2002-2005) 211 wins in the 200 win club.

1/31/08 - SMCC closed out it's 2008 home schedule with a 36 - 31 victory over Oregon Clay. It was the final home match for seniors Troy Opfer, Mark Costello, Tim Davlin, Christian Ortolani, Sean Bostater, and Kyle Bellamy. Earlier in the evening the Panthers lost to Napoleon 35 - 34. Going 2-0 for the Panthers were Troy Opfer (125), Christian Ortolani (160), and Max Dahs (171).

2/2/08 - SMCC lost both of its matches in a tri-meet with Coshocton and Marion Pleasant. They lost to Coshocton 40-37 and then to Marion Plesant 39-30. David Harrington (103) and Jim Pavia (112) were the only Panthers to post wins in both matches.

2/9/08 - SMCC finished 4th at the 2008 SBC Tournament. Mark Costello (135) was the lone champion for the Panthers. David Harrington (103), Troy Opfer (125), Christian Ortolani (152), and Kyle Bellamy (285) all placed 2nd for SMCC. 3rd place finishers were Tim Davlin (145), Max Dahs (171), Sean Bostater (189), and Brandon Bostater (215).

2/16/08 - SMCC won its 20th consecutive Sectional Crown at Plymouth High School. Panther wrestlers who will be continuing on to the District Tournament at Owens Tech. are: David Harrington (2nd - 103); Jim Pavia (3rd - 112); Troy Opfer (1st - 125); Mark Costello (1st - 130); Tim Davlin (4th - 145); Christian Ortolani (1st - 152); Max Dahs (4th - 171); and Kyle Bellamy (2nd - 285).

2/23/08 - SMCC placed 2nd at the District Wrestling Tournament held at Owens Technical College. Delta edged SMCC out for the District Title 138.5 to 134.5. SMCC will have 6 wrestlers going on to the State Tournament. The Panthers had 3 District Champions: Troy Opfer (125), Mark Costello (130), and Christian Ortolani (152). David Harrington (103) placed 2nd while Jim Pavia (112) and Max Dahs (171) finished 4th.

3/1/08 - SMCC placed 6th in the Division III State Tournament to mark 17 straight years the Panthers have finished in the Top Ten at the State Championship Wrestling Tournament. Troy Opfer (125) and Christian Ortolani (152) both placed 2nd for SMCC.
